On 16 June 2007, Harry Hindemith′s birthday was celebrated for the 100th time. Filmmuseum Potsdam looks back on the DEFA and television artist and presents some of the archived items from his estate that have been preserved by the museum. Moreover, this page contains a selection of photographs from important films featuring Harry Hindemith as well as his biography.

From the estate



Letter (27 March 1947) from RIAS requesting Hindemith to participate in the radio play production "Das Salzburger große Welttheater"
Letter (30 April 1947) from the Central Office of the SED containing thanks for Hindemith′s participation in the ceremony of the first anniversary of the party′s foundation
DEFA collaboration contract for the film "Unser täglich Brot" from the year 1949

 

In 1950, Harry Hindemith received the GDR National Award for his performance in "Unser täglich Brot"
Letter (13 January 1951) from Otto Grotewohl, Prime Minister of the GDR, on the occasion of Hindemith′s appointment to the Committee for the Promotion of German Intelligence
Award certificate for the "Silver Medal of Merit for the Fatherland" from 7 October 1961
