Exhibition by Hans-Jürgen Tast about the draftsman, producer and photo artist
Filmmuseum Potsdam′s collections on German set design / draftsmanship dedicate themselves, among others, to the works of Anton Weber, who also worked in and around Babelsberg. In doing so, the museum draws on the work of estate researcher Hans-Jürgen Tast, whose exhibition was, after its presentation in Potsdam, also shown at Deutsches Filmmuseum Frankfurt am Main.
Showing material from the estate of Anton Weber (1904 - 1979), the exhibition was the first one to present a survey of his complete works with an emphasis on his film work. Weber, a student of Robert Herlth – one of the most important draftsmen / set designers for theatre and film – had been working for Ufa in Babelsberg and Rome since 1936 and was responsible for the set design and architecture of films like "La Habanera" (1937), "Kautschuk" (1938), "Kongo-Express" (1939) and the art experiment "Unter den Brücken" (1944/45) that gained worldwide recognition and was shot in Potsdam and vicinity.
