This stock originally continued the "Illustrierter Film-Kurier" series. Changing denominations and, initially, changing publishers finally lead to the longtime, standardised layout of the Progress programmes during the 1950s. The collection contains the volumes 1945 to 1990, giving an almost complete account of films shown in GDR cinemas. By the end of the 1970s, the publishing frequency was reduced. The programme now announced the latest film productions on a monthly basis.
A distinctive feature of this series is a special programme for children′s and documentary films, which was introduced in 1958. No such thing can be found in Western countries.
